April 4th, 2017

The boys have been learning about planets and the solar system. They know way more than I do, but that might not be saying much. I keep magnets that show what states we've been to. Kellan looked at me knowingly and said, "you better make one for the planets too, 'cause we'll probably be going to those soon!". Camden piped in with, "We'll probably go to Mars first because they think it had water on it at one time". Kellan looked at us (a tad condescendingly), and said, "It doesn't matter if it has water! We can always bring a water bottle!" Well played, Cow!

Camden was in the shower and kept calling for me to turn the water hotter. I didn't realize that Kellan was paying attention to this, but when it came his turn to get in, he absolutely freaked out. He seriously behaved as if he thought the water was a million degrees. And all this was before he even felt the water. I finally said, 'Kellan! Please just feel the water and let me know if it's too hot". (It wasn't that hot), He cowered against the corner of the bathroom pathetically and said, "I don't need to feel it! I can hear the burning from here!". Oh sheesh! You're lucky you're a cute big eared kid!

Kellan is an expert on dinosaurs now as well. He was telling me about dinosaurs that are carnivores. (After I googled that I was able to hold a conversation with my 6 year old). Kidding! (Gulp!). Then he said, "We humans are carnivores too because we eat meat like chicken and cows". Then a look of absolute terror spread over his face and he said, "Well we don't eat cows like me though"...

When Kellan was drafting the guest list to his birthday party, he included girls. Camden looked mortified and yelled, "Girls! You want GIRLS to come to your party?!". Kellan replied calmly, "Yes, because they're U-tiful"...

Kellan's ears have been so plugged lately. Poor guy is just now able to hear again. We were on our way to school and at a stoplight so I grabbed my purse. Kellan asked, "What are you getting out of your purse, Mom?". I replied, "Chapstick". Kellan looked confused and said, "A hammer?!". I laughed and said, "You need your ears cleaned out, boy!". From the backseat, "What?!"...

This morning, the boys crawled into bed with me as we were waking up. I was loving the stinky snuggles. Then Camden popped up and said he had to go to the bathroom. He ran and flipped the bathroom light on with great flourish. I quickly turned as my eyes burned from the light adjustment. Sweet Kellan thoughtfully put his hand over my eyes to shield his amazing Mother from this torture. The only problem with this was - the more I praised Kellan on being so thoughtful and caring about me, the more he mashed my eyeballs into my skull. I don't know which hurt worse - the light or the pressure of your eyeballs popping. I couldn't say anything though, because that was a really sweet (and powerful) gesture...

I won't go into why Kellan didn't get a Paw Print the other day because, according to him (using my words), 'we've talked about this and now we're just going to move forward'. But when I did try to get an answer out of him, he dramatically quivered his lower lip and pathetically sighed saying, "I don't know, Mom! My brain was on vacation!"...

Camden is a little monkey stinker. I went out on the patio and turned around to come back into my home. There stood a widely grinning, skinny 7 year old that realized he knows how to lock the patio door. Luckily he still respects his Mom enough to let her in after 5 minutes... Grrrr...

The boys were settling down for bed, and I got a little emotional. They were right next to each other on the couch just being best brothers. I looked at them and said, "You boys are so lucky to have each other!". At the same exact time they replied, "Yes we are". I about melted until they started fighting over who jinxed who by saying the same thing at the same time...
