October 11th, 2015

We are so incredibly blessed to have Camden James Tilley. He is the most thoughtful, intelligent, funny boy ever. Happy 6th Birthday to my guy!

The other day at dinner, Camden was telling me how he'd like his hamburger prepared. He really pondered this decision and said he would like his burger with cheese, ketchup and buns. The he added, and of course the brown part. I think he meant the burger? You know, for the hamBURGER.?

We were watching the Lions game today. (I know, I know. I don't know why I take this week after week). The Lions made a really bad play, and I got *ahem* mad. Then, I noticed a flag on the play. As much as I love football, I honestly never know what team the flag is on until they put it on the TV screen. So, when the ref came on to explain the foul, I got really excited because it was on the Cardinals. I cheered and Camden asked me if that ref was talking to me...

Camden got 100% on his very first ever school spelling test!

Not just being a mom, but Camden is excellent at everything...except singing... I will admit that.

The boys were cracking up at something, and I distractedly said, "that's disgusting". Kellan laughed and said, "no, Mom. It's Monday!" (It was Sunday by the way)...

Camden was sound asleep on the couch, and Kellan was wide awake scowling at a movie. I whispered to Kellan to look at Camden and listen to him snore. Kellan listened, and looked amazed when he heard a snore. Then he looked at me wide eyed and asked if Camden had ZZZ's coming out of him...

We were at the park. Camden, "Scuse Me and I were playing soccer. Kellan was sitting in the grass playing with his monster truck. Then I heard from a little Moo Cow, "Mom, I'm great at breaking grass"...

Camden has been so excited for his birthday. (Wonder where he gets that). I said to Camden, "I can't believe you're almost 6!" He wisely looked at me and informed me that he wouldn't be a 6 year old until tomorrow 'morning'. Emphasis on the 'morning'.

The boys can't quite grasp the fact that 'Scuse Me is 8 "months" old and not "years" old yet. Camden finally relaxed once he settled on the fact that 'Scuse Me is zero. I honestly tried to explain that we count age in months until someone is a year old, but alas, this was not sitting right with Camden. We took "Scuse Me to the park, and he zoomed off running and nearly pulled the leash out of my hand. I got frustrated and told 'Scuse Me to be careful. Camden shook his head and said, "'Scuse Me is a zero year old mystery"...

Kellan was quizzically checking 'Scuse Me out, and then asked me why 'Scuse Me doesn't wear a shirt. I explained to him that animals don't need clothes. After a while, I relived our conversation and wondered why Kellan didn't seem too concerned that 'Scuse Me doesn't wear pants either...

Camden's learning the 10 Commandments in school, which is great, but also makes you realize you're not living life perfectly. We are training 'Scuse Me not to jump up at us while we're at the table eating. Kellan sternly told 'Scuse Me to get down, and Camden sagely said these words to Kellan. "Kellan, when you talk to 'Scuse Me in that tone of voice, you are not following the 10 Commandments". Oh learning this part of the Bible should just continuously bring joy to the Tilley household...

Last week the students got out of school at noon. When I picked Camden up he informed me that today had been "early release day". I remember calling it the less technical term "half day" when I was a kid. Then again, I wasn't the coolest kid...

We are all really good about saying our prayers in the morning. Kellan's catching on more and more each day. I said, "But in your Mercy, hear and answer us". Kellan repeated, "But in your car seat, hear and answer us"...

We've been outside a lot lately, so I've been more aware (anxious) about making sure the boys stay hydrated. We were talking about how you have to drink a lot of water, and that makes you pee more too. Kellan went to the bathroom, and all of the sudden I heard belly laughing. I reluctantly, I mean motherly, went to see what was going on and he was just absolutely cracking up. I asked him what on earth was so funny. When he caught his breath, he said, " I can't believe I just peed. I've been drinking Gatorade, not water!"...

I asked Kellan what the best part of his day at school was. He deadpanned "when I tripped". I didn't probe...

We (the boys) are still kind of reluctant on 'Scuse Me's name. Kellan said, "why don't we name him school picture day?" (Take a gander where he got that suggestion. I'll give you a minute to think it through). Camden heaved, "No, Kellan! That's a girl's name!"...

Taking 'Scuse Me for a walk, Kellan cheerily commented, "'Scuse Me's a great bad dog". I think he meant that as a compliment...
