Ok, Grammy. Your birthday was yesterday. Can you please stop making us wish you a happy birthday?
Honestly, I don't think I could have invented a better Grammy for my boys. As for a mom to me, eh, there's room for improvement. ;)
Out of the blue yesterday, Kellan said "Mom, I'm really happy". There were no toys, no new special treats, just those words from my boy. As much as I am not emotional, that moment will stick with me forever.
Kellan was walking around with a bucket on his head. (I would say don't ask, but I think you know Kellan well enough by now that it didn't cross your mind that this was odd at all). Then he tripped and said "sometimes when you have a bucket on your head, you trip"...
Kellan: Tomorrow is a vegetable and tomorrow is today.
You know how people have Gandhi quotes hanging up? You may want to frame this one now...
I gave Kellan a granola bar to eat in the car. He didn't finish it by the time we got to Grammy's house so he said, "I'm going to tell Grammy to set this on a paper towel because she doesn't like sticky counters"... Welcome to my childhood Kellan. It's great to have you here...
I dropped Camden off at school and gave him a huge (embarrassing to him) hug and kiss. While I was starting to walk to the car he yelled, "Bye Mom! Have fun at work!"...
I smelled the milk to make sure it was still good. Kellan was observing and asked me if it smelled like balloons. I just kind of looked at him. He informed me that "if it smelled like balloons, it probably wouldn't be tasty"...
Kellan was talking non stop and then got the hiccups. After trying to get out a few (million) sentences he exasperatedly raised his hands and asked, "Why are my hiccy-pops interrupting me?!"...
Kellan: If 'Scuse Me had 5 legs it would be hilarious. One would probably come out of his chin!...
Camden asked me something about car parts. Then another question about cars. I told him he should probably ask Dad this stuff. He looked at me and said, "but you're older". I'm assuming because I'm older I should know everything. I know all the important things, but I leave stuff like this to younger folks...
I told Camden that my Grandma's name was Joanne. He said, "Oh. Like Joanne Fabrics?" Yes kid I'm trying to convince myself is my child, yes...
