August 31st, 2015

I took Kellan to Mass at Camden's school today. He explained to me that he can only be good at Grammy's church. I definitely believe him.

Kellan was really good at Grammy and Granfy's church yesterday. I'm assuming part of the reason I thought he was so good was that he laid in my arms quietly the whole time. After Mass, we saw the priest. Kellan told the priest he was really being good during Mass. The priest replied, "yes! I saw that you were sleeping the whole time! Did my homily put you to sleep?" Kellan promptly replied "yes."...

Camden and Kellan love hearing stories about themselves when they were little. I don't have many stories since I've only got 5 1/2 years to pull from so far. We told Camden the story of when he met Kellan for the fist time. Granfy was, of course, running through the hospital causing trouble. He was wheeling Camden through the hospital halls in a wheelchair and had put rubber gloves on Camden's hands, feet and head.
When we finally tracked Granfy down, we wanted Camden to meet his little brother. Granfy held Camden over Kellan's crib. Camden took one look at Kellan, jumped a mile, and began to cry. Kellan laughed at this story, but Camden was pondering it seriously. Finally, Camden said, "I didn't want to be running through the halls causing mischief, but I was only 17 months old and Granfy couldn't understand me"...

I packed a cookie in  Camden's lunch box, and when I picked him up, he promptly told me he's not allowed to have cookies or unhealthy snacks. He's been in kindergarten for 2 weeks and I've already been in trouble.

Kellan still loves playing "I Spy" in the car. It's really hard to play this game in Arizona because the only colors to choose from are brown and kind of green...

Playing "I Spy" again, we asked Kellan to give us a hint of what he spied. He proceeded to whisper what he was looking at. That was a really good clue!

Camden and I were having some time together. He wanted to play cars. He kept telling me to pick a car and then cracking up because I picked the "wrong" one. He said, "don't worry, Mom. I used to pick the wrong cars when I was little"...

Kellan asked to take a bath, and I told him we'd take one after dinner. He put on his pouty face and said "if I start to cry, I'll be so mad!"...

I checked on the boys last night, and Kellan shot up and out of bed. I said, "Kellan, go back to sleep! It's the middle of the night!". He laid right back down and said, "oh, you just came to check on me". And the cow was immediately back asleep.

Camden was coloring at the table with Granfy. Finally Camden said, "Granfy, you don't have to talk"...

I was trying to get the boys in the car to go home after we all visited Grammy and Granfy. Kellan did not want to leave. He was grasping at straws for reasons to stay. Finally he said "Muffie wants me to stay because she really loves me." It was at that moment that Muffie regretted never learning how to speak English...

Camden made funny hair in the bath and wanted to see what he looked like. He asked me to take a picture of him so he could see what he looked like. After taking and showing him a few pictures, I realized, I should pull out the mirror and use that to show Camden what he looked like. A brilliant idea that took me quite a while to think of...

Kellan and I passed a big cloud of dark smoke on the way to school. Kellan was so excited and yelled "It's either a fire or a volcano!" We didn't stick around to find out which it was.

Camden was playing with cars. He was vrooming them across the floor. He looked at the one he had just slid and said "Mom, can you get me that one? It's not cooperating"...
